Engaging students in the local community

Locast Civic Media is a mobile & web platform to engage students in the process of collecting, reporting and disseminating news and information related to their local community. Students used the mobile application to create street reports (casts) that included video and photo content. These were submitted to projects that were based around a given topic or issue. Casts and projects were shared in real-time on the Locast Civic Media site, where the rest of the community could watch them or comment on them.
