PUMA: Auxetic Recurve Midsole
Programmable midsole for optimized performance.
In a multi-year collaboration project with PUMA, MIT Design Lab has been working on computational design and virtual performance simulation of auxetic pattern - 'recurve' - to reimagine how we can program our shoes to enhance performance. From auxetic pattern/taxonomy studies to computational/algorithmic design and FEM simulations, our team of researchers and engineers have developed a novel design-simulation-manufacturing process that brings the best of engineering and design together.
We're excited to see this collaboration result as PUMA's Xetic performance shoe.
